Drafted by the Flames in the first round of the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Nemisz won a silver medal with the Canadian Junior squad in the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship. He spent his junior career in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires. During his OHL career, Greg recorded 115 goals and 248 points. He joined the Calgary Flames American Hockey League affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat, for the 2010-11 campaign.
