The seventh overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Gagner made the switch from junior hockey to professional hockey in only one year, as he made the big league club after being drafted by the Oilers. Sam spent a year playing with the London Knights of the OHL, where his father and former NHLer Dave Gagner was one of his coaches.
