Maroon, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers, 161st overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. After 1 season with the London Knights of the OHL, Patrick joined the Flyers American Hockey League affiliate, Philadelphia Phantoms, now the Adirondack Phantoms.
