Stajan was originally drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs, but was involved in a trade with the Calgary Flames, that sent Matt, Nik Hagman and others to the Flames, in exchange for Dion Phaneuf and Keith Aulie.

Drafted by the Flames in the first round of the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Nemisz won a silver medal with the Canadian Junior squad in the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship. He spent his junior career in the Ontario Hockey League with the Windsor Spitfires. During his OHL career, Greg recorded 115 goals and 248 points. He joined the Calgary Flames American Hockey League affiliate, the Abbotsford Heat, for the 2010-11 campaign.

Clarke spent four years with the Ontario Hockey League's, London Knights, before being signed by the Colorado Avalanche and playing for their ECHL and AHL affiliates.
