McCabe, who was drafted by the New York Islanders in 1993, spent most of his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs. After seven years with the Leafs, McCabe would be traded to Florida in exchange for a draft pick and defenceman, Mike Van Ryn. After a successful first year with the Panthers, McCabe would be named team captain of the squad.

Prust, a well known around the NHL as an enforcer, was a member of the 2005 Memorial Cup winning, London Knights squad. After being drafted by the Calgary Flames, Prust would be traded to the Phoenix Coyotes. Not long after the Coyotes acquired Brandon, he would join the New York Rangers squad.
