Torquato was originally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 2006 but after not being re-signed by the Wings, he was invited to Minnesota Wild training camp and was a member of the Minnesota's Traverse City Prospects Tournament roster. Torquato played for both the Saginaw Spirit and the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League.
Torquato signed a 2007 Oh Canada Hockey card.
