Blake, a cancer survivor, began his career with the Los Angeles Kings after going undrafted and being signed by the club. After a two year stint with Los Angeles, Jason would join the New York Islanders where he would spend most of his national hockey league career. Blake would play on Long Island for six years including a 40 goal season in his final year with the Isles. After becoming an unrestricted free agent, he would be signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
