Armstrong was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins, but was involved in a trade that sent him to the Atlanta Thrashers hockey club. After a number of successful seasons playing in Georgia with the Thrashers, Colby would be signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs out of free agency. Armstrong would suffer an injury early on in the 2010-11 campaign and would have to sit out for a couple of months. Colby would join the team directly after recovering. He is currently playing with the hockey club this year.
